Match Report | Australia ease past Wales in remaining Women's group game

Australia produced a breathtaking attacking display to dismantle Wales 124–6, recording a new world record for the highest points total in Women's international rugby league.

The Jillaroos were ruthless from the opening whistle, racing into a commanding 60–0 half-time lead before continuing their assault after the break.

Jaime Chapman was the standout performer, crossing for an incredible six tries as Australia repeatedly tore through the Welsh defensive line.

Jessica Sergis, Keilee Joseph and Tamika Upton were among the other Australians to get on the scoresheet, while Jesse Southwell delivered an outstanding performance with the boot, converting twenty out of twenty one attempts.

Despite the enormous scoreline, Wales had a moment to celebrate when Paige Travis crossed for a try following a beautifully weighted kick from Tayla Preston with twenty minutes to go.

It was a significant moment for Wales, who had failed to score in their previous tournament match.

It also ended Australia's perfect defensive record in the competition.

The victory surpassed Australia's previous record international win of 92–0 against France in 2022.

It also eclipsed the previous women's international points-scoring record of 116–0, set by France against Serbia in 2023.

Australia now turn their attention to the semi-finals, where they will face Fiji.
