Czechia to host IRL Technical Education course

  • In 2025 IRL launched the most expansive investment into grassroots game development in its history.
  • The technical education project objective is to ensure that every IRL member nation is able to produce its own coaches and match officials, through accredited local educators, and its own educators, through accredited local tutors, ensuring self-sufficiency, local leadership development and greater global capacity.
  • The IRL's system focuses heavily on continuing technical development between courses, to ensure that acquired knowledge turns into maturing understanding of the game, higher technical standards and an authentically developed sport.
  • The project is underpinned by state of the art e-learning management systems and coaching resources

International Rugby League will deliver a Level 1 Coaching Course in the Czech city of Hradec Králové this weekend as part of its Technical Education programme.

The course will take place on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 and will see 17 participants pass through the two-day course. Thirteen of the participants will be from the Czech Rugby League Association whilst four attendees will attend from neighbouring Poland.

Dave Hunter, a Norway-based Educator, will lead the course - the second he has delivered this month having also delivered locally in Oslo on behalf of Rugby League Norge.

CZRLA’s Head of Coaching Vít Studecký said: “Hosting the Level 1 coaching course in Hradec Králové is a tremendous step forward for the development of rugby league in Central Europe.

“Welcoming 17 coaches from both Czechia and Poland highlights our shared commitment to building a strong foundation of qualified coaching staff and growing the sport, especially at youth and club levels. We are truly excited to work alongside IRL  Educator David Hunter throughout this intensive weekend.”

On conclusion of the course, the candidates will be provided with access to the IRL’s Technical Education portal to complete their ‘CATO’ post-course work to gain accreditation.
