CANADA AND JAMAICA ANNOUNCE FOUR GAME FESTIVAL

Canada and Jamaica men, their ‘A’ teams, U19s and Masters sides are set to meet on Saturday 10 October 2026, at the Terry Fox Stadium in Brampton, Ontario in a festival of rugby league.

At the centre will be the senior men’s match, which will kick off at 6pm local time for world ranking points, while the ‘A’ team game will see Canadian Selects take on Jamaica Exodus.

The event follows the successful staging of the inaugural IRL Women’s Rugby League World Series at the venue last October.

“We’re looking forward to facing our Americas region neighbours again for what is thankfully becoming a regular series back and forth, and especially excited to welcome Jamaica’s U19s for the first time,” noted Canada Rugby League Association President John Cameron.

“Jamaica has helped provide guidance to us in launching our U19 programme, so it makes it all the more special on this Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.”

Jamaica are equally excited about the opportunity and the benefits it will bring to their international pathways.

RLJ rugby league director, Romeo Monteith, commented: “We are excited to face Canada in our first away International at U19s level and hopefully the beginning of a mature U19 programme. Jamaica has had a High School Championship with hundreds of boys playing each year since 2009, and U19 internationals have now become the pinnacle aspiration for our young athletes.

“Having both a ranking international featuring the Reggae Warriors and also an ‘A’ team representative match featuring Jamaica Exodus allows us to work with more of our elite amateur pool, it's a rare and welcomed opportunity. We are happy to be based in Brampton, there is a large Jamaican ex-pat community there and we would love to have their support on the day.”

Canada already has a strong Masters element for players aged 35 or older, and their contest will see Jamaica make their international debut with RLJA using the occasion to launch their Masters domestic programme.     

“We look forward to working with Canada to continue to advance the International game at all levels in the Americas,” Monteith added.

Tickets for the day are priced at $10 and with a large school’s programme taking place to further support the event and a bumper attendance is expected.
